Studio Brundrett A woman-owned objects conservation studio based in Rochester, NY that specializes in the treatment of stained glass and mosaic works as well as related materials including glass, ceramic, metal, wood, and stone. The studio serves public and private collections within New York State and the surrounding areas.
Services OfferedCondition Assessments
On location and in studio assessments that document the current condition of an object. This includes the documentation of aesthetic and structural condition issues such as breaks, corrosion products, missing elements, and previous repairs.
Conservation Treatment
Advocacy for the object to preserve original and historically significant materials. Treatment includes written and photographic documentation, preventive conservation, and will apply relevant health and safety protocols to protect the owner of the objects, the conservator and the public.
Studio Brundrett follows the American Institute for Conservation (AIC) code of ethics and guidelines for practice to preserve art and cultural heritage.
Protective Housing
Archival housing for storage or for transit is custom made for each object and its unique needs. Helping to protect the object(s) from physical impact, damages due to vibrations, as well as to reduce the chance of disassociation.
Lorna BrundrettM.A. Conservation of Art and Cultural Heritage, M.S. Conservation Science and Imaging
A recent graduate of the Patricia H. and Richard E. Garman Art Conservation Department at SUNY Buffalo State University. With select conservation experiences at the objects conservation labs for the NYS Parks, Midwest Art Conservation Center, Cleveland Museum of Art, National Park Service (NPS) in the department of Historic Architecture, Conservation and Engineering (HACE) and at the stained glass conservation lab at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Currently, Lorna is the temporary lecturer for Conservation Imaging, Technical Examination and Documentation at the Garman Art Conservation Department.
Member of the International Council of Museums - Committee for Conservation (ICOM-CC), International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (IIC), Stained Glass Association of America (SGAA), British Society of Master Glass Painters (BSMGP), and is chair for the American Institute for Conservation (AIC) Health & Safety Network.
